Tokyo, in the 60s of last century, the mighty five clans of the Yakuza have joined forces to fight the battle that no one else can see.

Yokai, the long-forgotten demons from the times before, roam the narrow streets. The Yakuza receive support from Yurei, spirits who cannot enter the heavens of Yomi.

Their Irezumi tattoos grant them the power to see and fight the demons in this world.

As a remembrance of old times and battles fought against the dark, the Yakuza call themselves the chivalrous organizations – the Ninkyō Dantai.

  

Ninkyō Dantai is fully elaborated roleplaying game. The players take the role of Yakuza clan members. Together as a group they fight against the supernatural threat.

The game features a detailed background and history of how things came to pass. Conflicts resolve with a roll of two ten-sided die modified by attribute and skill, where you always using the higher rolled value. By focussing your Chi you could improve your chances even more.

Ninkyō Dantai presents a Tokyo, once known as Edo, as Japan's historic capital, concealing secrets about its true rulers. Enduring disasters like the 1923 earthquake and WWII bombings, its rich mythology has become intertwined with its history.

The book contains an extensive description of ancient beliefs in spirits and Yokai, central to Edo period tales, and how these were diminished during the Meiji Restoration's modernization. However, post-WWII, these mythical entities resurface in modern Tokyo, blurring the lines between the spiritual and physical realms, instilling fear in those who encounter them.

Beyond that, the book contains descriptions of the most important districts in Tokyo city. It also features the major and some minor clans of the Yakuza. Together with extended chronicle and explanations of the Irezumi tattoos and Tsukumogami artifacts.
